You can easily create a new mileage by using Google maps or simply entering the details manually.

Start:  There are a few simple ways to enter your start information:

  • Use your current location: To enable this, initially you will be asked permission for Fiskl to access your location settings.  By tapping on current location, the start field will be autofilled with your current address.
  • Enter your address: Here you can enter your postcode or your address, the app will predict your address in the menu whilst you type. Select the correct address.
  • To edit your address: Tap on the start field and make changes

End:  Tap on “add end address”, there are two ways to enter your end information:

  • Use your current location: Tap on “current location” button, this will autofill your end details as your current address
  • Enter your address: Here you can type in your postcode or address, select the correct address from the drop down menu
  • To edit your address: Simply tap on the end field and make changes

If you start entering your information but run out of time to finish it, then just tap “finish later” button, give it a name and save. You can come back later to complete the mileage form whenever you like.

  1. Google Maps will be switched on by default.
  2. Enter your start and end location, the total distance will be automatically calculated. You can also mark this as a round trip by clicking on the Round trip checkbox. 
  3. Enter the name of your trip and press save, this will take you back to the invoice creation screen.
  4. Once you’ve finished adding or editing your mileage, press save.

Enter manually or use your odometer

  1. Tap on the Google maps toggle to switch off Maps.
  • Start: If you’re required to enter your Odometer readings, this is the reading at the start of your journey.
  • End: This is the odometer reading at the end of your journey.
  • Total distance: This is the total distance of your entire journey, if you have entered both readings, this will automatically calculate and enter the total distance.
  1. From the first Google screen, tap on “Skip” at the top right of your screen, this will take you to the Add new mileage screen.
  2. Start: If you’re required to enter your Odometer readings, this is the reading at the start of your journey
  3. End: This is the odometer reading at the end of your journey
  4. Total distance: This is the total distance of your entire journey, if you have entered both readings, this will automatically calculate and enter the total distance.

Other information

You’ll be asked to enter the following information (not all fields are mandatory):

  • Name: This is the name you would like to give your mileage.
  • Date: This is the date of your trip.
  • Client: This is your client that you are assigning your trip to, select the down arrow for the list of your clients, you can also add a new client if it doesn’t appear by clicking on the add new button. For more details regarding adding clients, see Clients section in this guide.
  • Mileage unit: This is by default your mileage unit (km or m) which you entered in your Preferences, this can be changed by clicking the down arrow to select preferred option.
  • Currency: This is by default your currency which has been entered into your company settings, this can be changed by clicking the down arrow to select preferred currency.
  • Mileage rate: This is by default the mileage rate you entered in your preferences, this can be changed by clicking the down arrow. 
  • Invoice specific Tax: This is the tax type, ie, No Tax, Standard, Multiple or Compound which is to be applied to your invoice.  If you haven’t set your Invoice Specific Tax in Company Settings, you can go to Invoice Settings and make the switch.  See Manage your tax settings within this guide.
  • Advanced options: This contains a few extra fields which may only be required occasionally, to open, click on the down arrow:
    • Reimbursable: Tick the check box if your trip is reimbursable
    • Description: An open field to describe or if required, justify your trip.
  • Add to invoice: Once you have completed all the required fields, you can add this trip to either an existing or new invoice by tapping the green attach to icon at the bottom of the screen.  You’ll be prompted for Add to existing (goes to your invoice list) or Add to new (opens a new invoice screen).  For more details on invoices see Invoices section in this guide.
  • Once you’ve finished press save
